Truman all-America track and field athlete Brian Dzingai (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George's) advanced to the second round of the 100-meter dash at the Commonwealth Games, being held today through August 4 in Manchester, England.

The junior-to-be finished fourth in one of seven heats of the 100-meter dash this morning. Dzingai turned in a time of 10.61 seconds and advanced to the second round of the event, which includes athletes from 36 countries.

Dzingai, a two-time Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association outdoor champion in the 100- and 200-meter dashes, earned all-America honors in 2002 with an eighth-place national finish in the 100. He was also an indoor all-America in 2001 as he placed seventh in the 55-meter dash.
