Truman Men's Track & Field Results From UNI Dome Open

The Truman State University men's track and field team competed on Friday at the University of Northern Iowa Dome Open, facing a variety of teams from throughout Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota.

Freshman Brian Dzingai (Harare, Zimbabwe/St. George's) turned in his second-best time of the season (21.98 seconds) in winning the 200-meter dash. Dzingai came into the meet ranked fifth in Division II in the 200. Dzingai also narrowly missed a provisional qualification in the 60-meter dash when he turned in a third-place time of 6.89 seconds. The Division II provisional qualifying standard for the event is 6.88 seconds.

Elsewehere in the meet, junior Matt Helbig (Fenton, Mo./Rockwood Summit) placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:54.82. Alfonso Pugh (Galesburg, Ill.) leaped a season-best 22'-9.75" for sixth place in the long jump, and also placed eighth in the 200-meter dash. Jake Kingery (Monroe, Iowa/Prairie City-Monroe) charted a 6'-4.25" high jump to place fourth at the meet.

The meet represented the Bulldogs' final tune up before the MIAA Championships, which are set to be held this Friday and Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo.
