Three Women's School Records Fall at Emporia State

The Truman women's track & field team improved its NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks in three events on Saturday at the Emporia State Twilight Qualifier, setting school records in each.

In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Megan Williams (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) topped her own Bulldog record as she finished third in 13.84 seconds, a figure that easily beat her previous 2002 provisional mark. The time was also five one-hundredths of a second faster than her school-record time of 13.89 seconds, set last year at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Championships.

Williams now owns the No. 2-ranked legal time this year in Division II in the 100-meter hurdles.

Senior Kasye Hahn (St. Louis/Ladue) raced to victory in the 400-meter dash with a school-record time of 55.75 seconds. Hahn beat the old school record of 56.06 seconds, set last year at the MIAA meet by teammate Jamille Curry (Chiacgo/Morgan Park). Hahn's time also improved her previous 2002 provisional time by a half second.

Hahn also led the Bulldogs' 4x400-meter relay team to a first-place finish, an improved provisional time and a new school record. The team, which includes seniors Hahn and Curry as well as freshman Christina Winkler (High Ridge, Mo./Northwest) and sophomore Candi Jones (Oskaloosa, Iowa), finished in 3:45.61, a clocking that was six one-hundredths of a second faster than last year's fifth-place time at the NCAA Division II Championships. This year's 4x400 team has three of the same members as that 2001 squad.

The 4x400-meter relay team's new time ranks sixth in Division II this season.

The NCAA will announce this evening the athletes who will make the trip to the Division II Championships to be held May 23-25 in San Angelo, Texas.
