Two From Truman Volleyball Team Named to Academic All-District Squad

Two members of the Truman State University volleyball team were named today to the Verizon College Division Academic All-District VII Team as selected by CoSIDA.

Junior middle hitter Cassy Felkerson (Salem, Mo.) was a repeat selection for first-team honors, and junior right side hitter Jenny Glenn (Granby, Colo./Middle Park) was picked for the second team.

Felkerson, who holds a 3.95 GPA in chemistry/pre-medicine, is currently averaging 2.93 kills and 1.03 blocks per game for the Bulldogs. She ranks sixth in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in hitting percentage, with a mark of .289. Felkerson has a team-high 20 matches with double-figure kills and ranks seventh in the conference in blocking. She was a first-team academic all-district selection last year and was named second-team all-MIAA this season. This season, Felkerson has moved up to second on the Bulldogs' career hitting percentage and blocks average lists. She's a career .255 hitter who averages 0.95 blocks per game.

As a result of being named to the District VII first team, Felkerson will move on to the national ballot for Verizon College Division Academic All-America.

Glenn is a 4.00 student in exercise science and currently ranks third on the Truman squad in kills (2.39 per game) and is tied for the team lead in service aces with a total of 35 for the year. She averages 2.35 digs and 0.45 blocks, while hitting .232. Her service aces average of 0.33 ranks her ninth in the conference. Last year, Glenn was named an MIAA Presidential Scholar, academic all-conference and honorable mention all-MIAA. Again this season, she was named honorable mention all-MIAA. Glenn currently ranks eighth on Truman's career hitting percentage list, with a mark of .222, and on the assists list, with 263.

The Bulldogs are currently 28-5 on the season and play today in the first round of the NCAA Division II South Central Regional in Florence, Ala. This season, Truman set school records with 20 consecutive wins and 26 straight MIAA victories, while also capturing its first-ever MIAA volleyball championship. The 'Dogs finished MIAA play with a 15-1 league record and are making their first postseason appearance since 1994.
