Six Bulldog Volleyball Players Named To MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll
Six members of the Truman State University volleyball team have been named to the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll.
Senior Janelle Zehr (Deer Creek, Ill./Mackinaw) and juniors Cassy Felkerson (Salem, Mo.), Jenny Glenn (Granby, Colo./Middle Park) and Brenda Ippensen (Quincy, Ill.) were repeat selections for the honor from the Bulldog squad. Other Truman student-athletes among the 55 total players from around the conference were sophomores Monica Marlowe (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) and Jackie Knight (Chesterfield, Mo./Lafayette).
To be eligible for the list, the student-athlete must: 1.) Have a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or better at the qualifying institution; 2.) Have at least two terms of attendance at the member school (excluding summer sessions); 3.) Be a sophomore, junior or senior in athletic eligibility; 4.) Not have been redshirted or received a hardship qualification during the current academic year.
The volleyball Bulldogs finished their season with a 30-6 overall record and won a share of their first ever MIAA championship with a 15-1 conference record. A winner of a school record 20 straight matches during the regular season, Truman also advanced to the NCAA Division II postseason for the first time since 1994, and played for the South Central Region championship.
