Bulldog Seniors Leads Truman to a 3-0 Win Over Southwest Baptist

On senior day at Pershing Arena, the two Bulldogs seniors, Monica Marlowe and Shelby Ortwerth, led the team to a 30-21, 30-19 and 30-19 win over Southwest Baptist. Ortwerth had a team-high 17 kills and recorded just one error in 26 attempts for a .615 hitting percentage. Marlowe led Truman with 46 assists and 19 digs and also had two service aces.

Truman ends its regular season with a 24-8 record and finished tied for second in the MIAA with a 24-8 record. Southwest Baptist ends the year with a 10-24 record and a 1-15 MIAA mark.

The Bulldogs won their third straight match by a 3-0 sweep after hitting .307 and holding the Lady Bearcats to a .125 hitting percentage. Tiffany Graham and Jennifer Hunter each had nine kills for Truman while Micaela Walter and Jessica Sears chipped in with eight apiece. Rebecca Knefelkamp added 12 digs for the Bulldogs.

Monica Martinez had 10 kills for Southwest Baptist and Devon Watts was right behind with nine. Candace Zane had 28 assists and Devon Watts led the team with 11 digs and five blocks.

Truman will have to playing the waiting game now until Sunday to find out its postseason fate.
