Truman Volleyball Team Names Sarah Spader Student Assistant Coach For 2000 Season

Head volleyball coach Becky Eggering announced today the signing of Sarah Spader as student assistant coach for the 2000 season. Spader, of Vermillion, S.D., will be a junior accounting major at Truman and maintains a 3.8 GPA.

Over the past two seasons, Spader served as a defensive specialist for the Bulldogs. She saw action in 61 games and recorded 49 digs and six service aces. In high school, Spader finished first in her class, lettered in three sports and was co-captain of the 1998 Vermillion High School team which won the class A state championship. She led her team in digs and was in the top 10 in ace serves at the state tournament.

"Sarah will be a great addition to our coaching staff," said Eggering. "She has a good mind for the game and I believe that she will be a strong coach."

"I have seen firsthand how hard Sarah is willing to work, the quality of her efforts and how devoted she is to the success of our team," Eggering added. "I am excited that she will continue to be an integral part of our program."

The Truman Bulldogs finished the 1999 season with a 23-9 overall record and took second place in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association with the program's best-ever conference record of 14-2.
