Truman Volleyball Squad Receives Votes In 2000 Preseason Poll

The Truman State University volleyball team received 18 points in the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II preseason top 25 released this week.

The Bulldogs will face five teams ranked in the preseason poll, including No. 5 Nebraska-Omaha and No. 6 North Dakota State, two squads the 'Dogs will face on their opening day of the season. Central Missouri, a Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association rival and South Central Region opponent, is ranked 18th. Other 2000 nationally-ranked opponents for Truman include North Alabama (13th) and Rockhurst (21st), two other South Central Region foes. In addition, Alabama-Huntsville, another regional opponent for the 'Dogs, is currently receiving votes.

Truman begins its 2000 campaign on Aug. 25-26 at Nebraska-Omaha in the Maverick/Ramada Inn Tournament. The Bulldogs meet North Dakota State on Aug. 25 at 2:30 p.m. and will take on Nebraska-Omaha at 7 p.m. that same day. Truman's home opener is slated for Sept. 22 when the team meets two-time defending NAIA national champion Columbia College at 7 p.m. The 'Dogs finished with a 23-9 overall record in 1999, including a program-best 14-2 MIAA mark for second place.
