Felkerson and Glenn Named to Verizon Academic All-District Team
The postseason awards continue to roll in for the Truman State University volleyball team, as today it was announced that seniors Cassy Felkerson (Salem, Mo.) and Jenny Glenn (Granby, Colo./Middle Park) were named first-team Verizon Academic All-District VII performers.
It marks the third time in Felkerson's career that she has been named a first-team selection. It's Glenn's second time to be named to the list, after earning second-team honors last year.
Due to their first-team selection, Felkerson and Glenn will move on to the Verizon Academic All-America ballot.
Felkerson maintains a 3.94 GPA in chemistry (pre-medicine) and is the Bulldogs leader in several categories, including kills (3.59 per game), hitting percentage (.326) and blocks (1.05 pg). Additionally, she currently leads the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in hitting, while ranking sixth in the league in both kills and blocks. This year, Felkerson was named AVCA/Sports Imports Division II National Player of the Week on Oct. 30, the same week she received her lone MIAA Hitter of the Week honor. She was named conference MVP and was a first-team all-MIAA selection for the first time in her career.
Glenn carries a 4.0 GPA in exercise science/pre-education and ranks third on the Bulldogs in kills (2.78 pg). She also ranks second in the MIAA with a .266 hitting percentage and is third on the team in digs (2.51 pg) and fourth in aces (0.31 pg). She was named a second-team all-MIAA performer on Wednesday, marking her third time on the all-conference squad after earning honorable mention status the previous two seasons.
Felkerson and Glenn are two members of the Truman volleyball squad that has posted a school-record 35-1 overall record and is ranked No. 2 in the nation. This week, the 'Dogs are hosting the South Central Regional Tournament as the No. 1 seed after going 26-0 against regional opponents during the regular season. Truman also collected its second straight MIAA championship, but first outright, after posting a perfect 16-0 record in league play. The 'Dogs have won 24 consecutive matches and 20 straight on their home floor, where they'll play on Friday in the regional semifinals against either Alabama-Huntsville or Henderson State (Ark.).
