The MIAA announced its postseason basketball awards and all-conference teams Sunday afternoon in Kansas City, Mo.

Truman men's basketball player Grant Agbo (Ferguson, Mo./McCluer) was named the conference Freshman of the Year. He is just the second Bulldog to win the honor since they started awarded it in 1994. Paul Taylor earned the award in 1995 for Truman.

Two Bulldog athletes were named to one of the all-conference teams. On the women's side, junior Sarah Sommer (Sparland, Ill./Midland) was a first-team selection. For Truman's men, senior Matt Beran (Victor, Iowa/HLV-Victor) was an honorable mention selection for the second straight season.

Agbo had one of the top freshman seasons in Bulldog history. The center led the team in scoring with 12.6 points a game and he was second on the squad with 5.7 rebounds a contest. He currently ranks seventh in the MIAA with a .471 field goal percentage and is 14th in the league in rebounding and 16th in scoring. Agbo scored in double-figures in 21 of the 26 games he played in throughout the season and twice, he made the game-winning field goal in the final minutes of a game.

Sommer ended the season averaging 16.1 points a game, the third-best mark in the conference. She also ranked seventh in rebounding (6.9), fourth in field goal percentage (.430), sixth in free throw percentage (.756) and third in blocks (1.44). Seven times during the season she scored over 20 points and she also recorded four double-doubles. Her stats this year rank her 13th in scoring and three-pointers made, eighth in free throws made and second in blocks in the Truman single-season records.

Beran ended his four-year career by finishing second on the team with 12.5 points a game and he led the squad with 7.1 rebounds a contest. He ranks sixth in the league with a .477 field goal percentage and is tied for fifth in rebounding and 18th in scoring. Beran, who earned first-team academic all-district honors earlier this season, ended his Bulldog career ranked in several team career categories including 20th in scoring, ninth in rebounding and fifth in blocks.

The Bulldog women ended their season last Saturday with a 10-17 overall record and a 3-15 mark in MIAA play. The men's team ended its year with a 6-21 overall record and they were also 3-15 in conference action.
