Washburn-73,Truman-55
Behind a career-best effort from Erin Menard, the No. 8 Washburn Lady Blues beat Truman State 73-55 in Lee Arena Saturday afternoon.
Menard hit 10 of 15 3-pointers to finish with a career-high 30 points to help Washburn improve to 13-2 and 4-2 in the MIAA. Menard broke the school record and was one shy of the MIAA record for 3-pointers made in a game.
The Lady Blues connected on 14 of 40 3-pointers as a team to break the school record for both made 3-pointers and attempted 3-pointers. Their 40 attempts was an MIAA record.
Washburn trailed Truman State by as many as seven in the first half, before Menard and Alison Garrett each hit two 3-pointers in the final six minutes of the half. Washburn used a 12-0 run late to take a 39-27 lead a the break.
After Garrett hit another 3-pointer to begin the second half, Menard added four treys in a four minute stretch to extend the lead to 58-37. Menard hit her 10th 3-pointer just before leaving the game for good with 4:29 left.
Sarah Sommer led Truman with 15 points, while Jamie Huffman added 12 points.

Washburn-79, Truman-71
The No. 13 Washburn Ichabods survived a late rally to hold off Truman State
79-71 in Lee Arena Saturday afternoon.
With the win Washburn improved to 14-0 and 6-0 in MIAA play, while Truman State fell to 4-11 and 1-5 in the MIAA. The Ichabods are off to their best start since 1992-93 (19-0) and best MIAA start since 1993-94 (9-0).
After falling behind 15-10 in the opening five minutes, Washburn capped a 17-2 run on Steven Kenney's 3-pointer with 10:39 left to take a 27-10 lead. The Ichabods hit 15 of 30 from the field, including 5 of 11 3-pointers to take a 41-34 lead a the break.
The Ichabods led by as many as 13 early in the second half before Truman tried to mount a comeback. The Bulldogs had a 17-6 run to pull within 62-61 on Matt Brock's 3-pointer with 6:22 left.
Truman couldn't get the lead and Washburn sealed the victory on Jerad Head's 3-pointer with 1:09 to increase the lead to 75-69.
Troy Douglas led Washburn with 18 point, while Head had a career-high eight assists. Grant Agbo had 15 points and Adam Ogle had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds for Truman.
