Truman (7-16 overall, 2-13 in the MIAA): The Bulldogs are looking to end the season on a positive note by earning another win or two in their last three games of the season. However, a trip to Emporia tomorrow will be a difficult road game to win. Missouri-Rolla will travel to Kirksville for the 'Dogs last home game on Wednesday, and the Truman women will head to Pittsburg for the regular season finale.
The Truman women are hoping to snap a four-game losing streak that began after their 70-69 overtime win at Missouri Southern on Feb. 3. In fact, the Bulldogs also beat MSSC on Jan. 6 to sweep the season series which accounts for both of their MIAA wins this year.
The 'Dogs are 3-8 in Kirksville, and 4-8 on the road.
Truman ranks first in the MIAA in rebounding offense (41.3 rpg), defensive rebounds (28.55 drpg) and blocked shots (3.41 bpg). The Bulldogs have out-rebounded 16 of their opponents this season, and tied Emporia at 34 in the meeting on Jan. 20.
The Truman women are ninth in the MIAA standings, two games out of the eighth spot. With three regular season games left, the Bulldogs are in danger of not making their fourth-straight trip to the conference postseason tournament by finishing in the top eight in the MIAA.
Emporia State (22-1 overall, 14-1 in the MIAA): The Lady Hornets are ranked second in the nation this week and have clinched a first-round MIAA postseason tournament home game. ESU's only loss was to Southwest Baptist in Emporia on Jan. 17, 65-62. It marked the Lady Hornets' first loss at home in 62 games.
Senior forward Emily Bloss is ranked fifth in the nation with 21.3 points a game and 20th in field goal percentage (.561).
Series Records: Emporia has a 20-4 lead in the all-time series with the Truman women, and won the first meeting this season 66-47 in Kirksville. However, the Bulldogs snapped an eight-game losing streak to ESU with a 75-72 win over the Hornets in Kirksville on Feb. 19 last year. Two years ago, Emporia knocked the 'Dogs out of the MIAA postseason tournament in the second round and the NCAA South Central region tournament in the final game by scores of 84-64 and 110-93, respectively, both at ESU.
The Coaches: Bulldog Head Coach John Sloop is in his first season as a collegiate head coach, but served five years as the assistant coach for the Truman men's team.

He arrived at ESU in 1995, serving as an assistant to the Hornets under head coach Cindy Stein who went on to coach the Missouri Tigers women's basketball squad.
Perkins Breaks Blocks Record: Junior center/forward Jennifer Perkins (Fort Dodge, Iowa/St. Edmund) broke the Truman record for career blocked shots on Feb. 7 after swatting five Missouri Western balls. The five rejections also tied the Truman single-game record. Perkins, who now has 63 for her career, swiped the record from Amy Pillard who charted 58 blocks from 1994-96.
