Truman Women's Cross Country Finished Second at Miner Invitational

The Bulldogs women's cross country team, ranked 17th in the country last week, finished second out of eight teams at the Miner Invitational in Rolla, Mo. last Saturday. Truman scored 56 points at the meet, finishing behind Missouri Southern who had 43 points. Among the teams that the Bulldogs finished ahead of were MIAA schools Southwest Baptist and Missouri-Rolla.

The top five Truman runners all finished in the top 16 at the competition. Freshman Meagan Robertson (Dittmer, Mo./Northwest) led the team for the second straight meet, finishing fifth overall with a time of 18:51 on the 6,000-meter course. Junior Dani Rawlings (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South) was right behind her in sixth-place with a time of 18:54.

Three Bulldogs finished in a pack for 14th, 15th and 16th place. Senior Leah Zidon (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) was 14th with a time of 19:36. Sophomore Sarah Armstrong (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) finished two seconds behind Zidon and freshman Alana Walker (Masonville, Colo./Poudre) was three seconds behind Zidon.

The women's cross country will compete in the Border State Invitational next Saturday in Edwardsville, Ill. That meet will be the final tuneup for the team before the MIAA Championships on Oct. 25 at the Kirksville Country Club.
