Women's Cross Country Competes At Iowa State Open
The Truman State University women's cross country team was in action on Saturday at the Iowa State Open cross country meet in Ames, Iowa.
No team scores were kept at the meet, which saw the Bulldogs take on such Division I schools as Iowa State, Iowa, Colorado and Arkansas.
Truman's top finished was senior Kristi Willenberg (St. Peter's, Mo./Francis Howell-UMKC), who placed 29th overall with a time of 23:43 over the 6,000-meter course. Sophomore Leah Zidon (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) was close behind in 31st with a time of 23:46 and sophomore Jennifer Tesmer (Harrisonville, Mo.) finished in 23:58 for 34th. Junior Jody Shanks (Liberty, Mo.) rounded out the 'Dogs top 40 finishers, finishing 38th overall with a time of 24:02.
Truman will return to action in two weeks when they travel to the Miner Invitational in Rolla, Mo., on Sept. 30. However, the Founder's Day Run will be held on Sept. 23 in Kirksville for a partial squad competition.
