Women's Cross Country Takes First at Miner Invitational
The Truman State University women's cross country squad posted its second meet win of the season on Saturday at the Miner Invitational in Rolla, Mo.
Bulldog runners occupied each of the first five places in the meet as the team finished with a score of 15 to outdistance second-place Missouri-Rolla by 43.
Leading the way for the Bulldogs was sophomore Jennifer Tesmer (Harrisonville, Mo.), who finished first in 23:14.2. Junior Beth Luebbering (St. Thomas, Mo./Helias) placed second in 23:32.9, followed by senior Kristi Willenberg (St. Peters, Mo./Francis Howell-UMKC) in third (23.38.3). Sophomore Suzanne Schmidt (Omaha, Neb./Elkhorn) finished fourth in 23:46.5 and junior Jody Shanks (Liberty, Mo.) captured fifth with a time of 23:47.7.
Two other Bulldogs, junior Alisha Smyth (Fairbanks, Alaska/Lathrop) and Emily Komiskey (Galena, Ill./Dubuque Wahlert) finished eighth and 10th, respectively.
Truman now has won two meets on the season and will compete next Saturday in St. Louis at the Border States Invitational.
