Women's Cross Country Places Second at All-Missouri/Border States Meet

The Truman State University women's cross country team came in second out of 16 teams on Saturday at the All-Missouri/Border States Championship in Edwardsville, Ill. The Bulldogs finished with a total of 83 points to finish 44 points back of first-place Central Missouri State and one point up on third-place Washington (Mo.).

Senior Beth Luebbering (St. Thomas, Mo./Jefferson City Helias) led a group of five Bulldogs in the top 25 as she placed 10th with a time of 18:56.20, while junior Jennifer Tesmer (Harrisonville, Mo.) was 14th in 19:02.10. Junior Suzanne Schmidt (Omaha, Neb./Elkhorn) completed the 5,000-meter course in 19:08.60 for 16th. Freshman Dani Rawlings (Fargo, N.D./Fargo South) and senior Jody Shanks (Liberty, Mo.) rounded out the Bulldog top five with 21st and 22nd-place finishes, respectively.

The meet marked Truman's final competition before the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association meet, which will be held on Oct. 20 in Emporia, Kan.

The Truman women came into the week ranked No. 5 in the South Central Region.
