Four Collect Top 10 Finishes at UNO/Creighton Invitational

The Truman State University women's cross country team competed on Saturday at the University of Nebraska-Omaha/Creighton Invitational and had four runners earn top 10 finishes at the meet. No team scores were kept at the five-team meet.

Senior Beth Luebbering (St. Thomas, Mo./Jefferson City Helias) led the Bulldog finishers with a second-place showing and a time of 19:55 on the 5,000-meter course. It was Luebbering's second straight runner-up finish of the year. Junior Suzanne Schmidt (Omaha, Neb./Elkhorn) finished fifth in 20:03 in her hometown, while juniors Jennifer Tesmer (Harrisonville, Mo.) and Leah Zidon (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) grabbed eighth and ninth place, respectively, with times of 20:18 and 20:26.

Two other Bulldogs just missed the top 10, as senior Jody Shanks (Liberty, Mo.) came in 11th with a time of 20:37 and sophomore Sonya Yamnitz (Hallsville, Mo./Jefferson City Helias) was 12th in 20:51.

The 'Dogs compete again this Friday at the Iowa State Invitational, their third meet of the season.
