Lindenwood Wins Bulldog Classic While Truman Finishes Fourth
The final round of the Truman women's golf team's Bulldog Classic was played this morning at Kirksville Country Club. The Bulldogs shot a 377 on the final day for a two-round score of 732, which placed the team in fourth in the eight-team field.
Erin Fogarty had the best round of the day for Truman, shooting an 86. She finished with a total of 171 which placed her in a tie for fifth-place in the individual standings. Jill Schulte shot a 98 on Saturday and finished tied for 17th with a score of 183. Alyssa Pulphus was third on the team with a 89-96--185 for the tournament. Ashley Elliott shot a 97 in the final round and shot 193 during the two days. Dyane Tower recorded a 104 and finished with a tournament score of 202.
Three Bulldogs played as individuals and Melissa Pfeiffer led the way after shooting a 94 on Saturday and finishing with a 193. Calie Fuler also lowered her score with a 98 and finished with a two-round score of 205. Katie Martinek shot one stroke better on Saturday with a 106 and finished with a 213.
Lindenwood players captured second, third and fourth place in the individual standings and their team won the tournament with a score of 661. Western Illinois was second with a score of 709 followed one shot behind by Simpson. Wartburg and Rockhurst tied for fifth with scores of 747 and Central College and Missouri Western tied for seventh with 795.
Quincy's Lynn Schlepphorst won medalist honors at the Bulldog Classic. She led after shooting a first-round score of 77 and her final round score of 83 was one stroke better than the runnerup, Sandy Thind.
Truman women's golf will be in action again on Monday and Tuesday in
Springfield, Mo. at the Payne Stewart Memorial Classic.
