Bulldogs Women's Golf Finishes Eighth At Illini Classic
For the second straight tournament, Truman women's golf went against some much tougher competition, this time finishing eighth out of nine teams at the Illini Spring Classic. The Bulldogs shot two round scores of 351 and 374, finishing ahead of a Division I school, Tennessee State. The host school, Illinois, won the tournament with a team score of 596 and Illinois' Kanda Laurin took medalist honors after shooting an even 144 over the two rounds.
The Bulldogs were led over the two days by Jill Schulte. Schulte shot rounds of 86 and 89 and tied for 34th place overall. Ashley Elliott had the low Bulldog round of the tournament with an 83 on the opening day. She shot a 94 on Saturday to finish with a 177, tying her for 37th place.
Erin Fogarty shot 88-95=183 and finished third on the team and 41st overall. Calie Fulmer shot a 193 over the two days for a 44th place finish. Dyane Tower knocked 12 strokes off her first-round score and ended with a 204 for the tournament and was 45th overall.
The women's golf team will conclude its 2002-03 season on Apr. 26-27 when they compete at the John A. Logan Tournament in Marion, Ill.
