Lauren Allen Leads Truman at Illinois Wesleyan Tournament
The Truman women's golf team shot the fourth-lowest score in the final day of action at the Illinois Wesleyan Tournament and moved up three spots to finish fifth out of 20 teams at the event. Kirksville native Lauren Allen continued her hot shooting of late, finishing second out of 115 golfers in the individual standings, just one shot off the lead.
Truman shot a 330 on Saturday in the first-round of the tournament and was in eighth-place. Sunday, the Bulldogs improved their total by 10 strokes as four of the Truman golfers either improved or matched their first-round score.
Allen opened the tournament with a three-over par, 75 and was just two shots off the lead. Sunday, she shot a 77 but was only able to pick up one stroke on the leader. Allen has now led the Truman golf squad in four of the five meets it has participated in so far this fall and has a stroke average of 83 in seven rounds.
Jill Schulte also broke 80 on the final day and finished in a tie for 18th with a 81-79=160. Erin Fogarty shot two rounds of 83 and her final score of 166 tied her for 37th place. Alyssa Pulphus had a big improvement on Sunday, shooting an 81 following an opening round score of 91. She tied for 60th place overall. Dyane Tower rounded out the Bulldogs squad with a 95-88=183 which place her in a tie for 86th place.
The women's golf team will be in action next Friday and Saturday at the Nebraska Wesleyan Tournament.
