Women's Golf Ends Fall Season With Sixth-Place Finish
The Truman women's golf team, in its final tournament during the fall portion of its schedule, finished sixth overall this week at the UMKC Kenneth Smith Classic and second among the three non-Division I schools at the meet.
Truman shot two straight rounds of 349 to finish with a 698 for the two-round competition that was held at Longview Lake Golf Club in Lee's Summit, Mo. Erin Fogarty led the team and finished tied for 11th after shooting a 79-81=160. Alyssa Pulphus came in 24th overall after shooting a 170 over two rounds. Jill Schulte shot a 179 and tied for 31st place while Dyane Tower shot a 189 and tied for 35th.
The Bulldogs had a successful fall season including a team victory in the Monmouth Invitational. Lauren Allen, who did not compete at the UMKC Classic, earned medalist honors at the Monmouth Invitational and Fogarty finished first overall in a dual competition against Rockhurst.
Fogarty currently leads the squad with a 83.9 stroke average followed closely behind by Allen, with a 85.6 average. Two other golfers averaged in the 80s for the fall season with Schulte averaging 86.1 strokes a round and Pulphus averaging 87.3.
