Strong Final Day Helps Lauren Allen Finish Fourth At The Cougar Classic

The Bulldogs women's golf team started the 2003-04 season the past two days at the Cougar Classic in Edwardsville, Ill. Truman used a strong second-day to move up to fifth-place in the event with a final score of 360-356=716. The host school, SIU-Edwardsville, won the title with a two-day score of 683.

Junior Lauren Allen (Kirksville, Mo./Kirksville) shot an 80 on Monday, the second-best score of the day and the third-best round of the tournament, which moved her up to fourth-place in the individual standings. Following an 88 on Sunday, she ended with a 168, eight shots off the leader and just one shot away from third place.

Freshman Sarah Lloyd (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) finished second on the team and tied for 21st overall after rounds of 91-89=180. Senior Erin Fogarty (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy), the team's first-round leader, finished third on the team and tied for 29th overall with a 87-95=182.

Sophomore Dyane Tower (St. Louis/Pattonsville) tied for 36th overall with a two-day score of 94-92=186. Rounding out the squad was junior Ashley Elliott (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) who shot two rounds of 98 for a total of 196, tying her for 51st place.
