Lauren Allen Continues To Lead The Way For Women's Golf
Junior Lauren Allen (Kirksville, Mo./Kirksville) shot a career-best round of 74 on the final day of action at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Classic on Sunday and tied for 12th, out of 125 golfers, with a two-round score of 154. Truman women's golf, which was playing without one of its top players, placed 12th out of 21 teams at the event.
Three other Bulldogs also shot season-best rounds in their third tournament of 2003-04. Freshman Sara Lloyd (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) placed second on the team and tied for 55th overall with a 79-85=164. Junior Ashley Elliott (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) was third on the team with a two-round score of 169 after rounds of 86 and 83. Sophomore Dyane Tower (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonsville) was fourth on the team with a 87-85=172.
Rounding out the squad at the tournament were two players seeing their first action of the season. Senior Alyssa Pulphus (Naperville, Ill./Lafayette) shot a 91-90=181 and sophomore Melissa Pfeiffer (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville) shot a 96-98=194.
Truman continues its falls schedule this Friday and Saturday when it competes at the Nebraska Wesleyan Tournament in Lincoln, Neb.
