Women's Golf Finishes Fall Season At The UMKC Kenneth Smith Classic

Playing without a few members of its normal lineup, the women's golf team finished eighth out of eight teams at the UMKC Kenneth Smith Classic on Monday and Tuesday at Ironhorse Golf Club in Leawood, Kan.

Two Bulldogs, freshman Sara Lloyd (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) and senior Erin Fogarty (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy), finished in the top 20 at the event. Lloyd shot a season-best 82 in the first-round and followed it up with an 86 on the second day. Her two-day total of 168 led the team and placed her 12th overall at the event. Fogarty carded a 90-84=174 and finished in a tie for 16th place.

Sophomore Dyane Tower (St. Louis, Mo./Pattonsville) tied for 28th overall with a 87-101=188. Freshman Rebecca Gray (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg) played in her first collegiate event and was fourth on the team with a 111-116=227. Sophomore Melissa Pfeiffer (Edwardsville, Ill.) rounded out the squad with a 118-121=239.

The UMKC Classic ended the fall season for the women's golf team, a season in which it had several top five finishes. Junior Lauren Allen (Kirksville, Mo./Kirksville) led the team with a 82.3 average during the fall. Fogarty and Lloyd averaged 85.1 and 86.0 shots a round, respectively. Tower ended the fall season with an average of 90.0 and junior Ashley Elliott (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) averaged 91.6 strokes.
