A Strong Day Two Score Propels The Women's Golf Team To Ninth-Place
The Truman women's golf team shot one of the best team scores during the final day of competition at the Illinois Wesleyan Fall Golf Classic. That strong finish helped the Bulldogs jump four spots in the final standings to finish ninth out of 24 teams at the event.
Freshman Amanda Senn (Arlington Heights, Ill./Prospect) had her best tournament as a Bulldog, shooting a 81-75=156 and tying for 15th-place overall. She recorded five birdies over the two days, tying for the third-most of anyone in the tournament. Senior Lauren Allen (Kirksville, Mo./Kirksville) finished second on the team with a two-day total of 161 which placed her in a tie for 30th.
Freshman Laura Westensee (Rock Island, Ill./Rock Island) tied for 36th-place with a score of 162. Another first-year player, Marta Samojluk (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central), was among a group of golfers in 48th place with scores of 165. Rounding out the squad were sophomore Sara Lloyd (Overland Park, Kan./Shawnee Mission South) and senior Ashley Elliott (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell). Lloyd tied for 63rd place with a 169 and Elliott came in 94th with a 176.
The women's team will be in action again next weekend at the Southwestern Minnesota State tournament in Marshall, Minn.
