Women's Golf Newcomers Are Impressive In First Tournament
Led by some good showings by Bulldog newcomers, the women's golf team finished third out of five teams at the Maverick Round-Up this weekend in St. James, Minn.
Truman's Laura Westeusee was competing as an individual, but finished fourth overall with a two-day score of 85-83=168. She finished just six shots behind the medalist, Kristi Carlson of Minnesota State-Mankato, the host school for the tournament.
Another newcomer, Marta Samojluk, led the team scoring with a pair of 85 rounds, which was good enough for a tie for 6th place. Returners Lauren Allen (t-11th) and Dyane Tower (13th0 were next on the team scoring with rounds of 178 and 179, respectively. Newcomer Amanda Senn was fourth on the team after a closing round of 88 gave her a two-day total of 180, placing her in 14th. Sara Lloyd rounded out the team scoring with a 183, good for 17th place.
Other Bulldogs competing as individuals were Ashley Elliott and Calie Fulmer. Elliott tied for 15th with a score of 181 and Fulmer was tied for 25th with a 195.
