16 Women's Soccer Players Named to MIAA Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll
Out of 42 individuals named to the The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association Commissioner's Academic Honor Roll, 16 (38%) of those players were Truman Bulldogs.
A full 11 of Truman's 16 honorees earned all-conference status this past season, as the Bulldogs repeated as MIAA champions with a perfect 5-0 record, and finished 15-4 overall.
First-team all-MIAA picks who were also named to the commissioner's academic honor roll were junior goalkeeper Emily Huyck (Omaha, Neb./Westside), senior defender Meredith Hartle (Mehlville, Mo.), junior defender Nicole Thorpe (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods), freshman defender/midfielder Molly Adams (Omaha, Neb./Marian), junior midfielder Melissa Miller (Olathe, Kan./Olathe South).
Sophomore midfielder Anna Smith (Jefferson City, Mo.), a second-team all-conference selection, was an MIAA CAHR choice as well.
Five Bulldogs earned honorable mention all-conference status, as well as places on the commissioner's academic honor roll. They included sophomore back Karla Danekas (Naperville, Ill./Central), junior midfielder Kelli Best (Urbandale, Iowa), junior midfielder Missy Ell (O'Fallon, Mo./St. Dominic), sophomore forward Jessica Pohren (Omaha, Neb./Duchesne) and senior forward Niki Taylor (Crestwood, Mo./Lindbergh).
Other individuals from Truman who also qualified for the honor roll by maintaining at least a 3.0 grade point average and were sophomore, juniors or seniors were junior defender Jennifer Buscher (Oakville, Mo./Notre Dame), sophomore forward Carrie Hegenderfer (Cedar Rapids, Iowa/John F. Kennedy), junior defender Kelly Hritz (St. Peters, Mo./Francis Howell North) and sophomore midfielders Becky Ojile (St. Louis/Nerinx) and Laura Paul (Lee's Summit, Mo./Blue Springs).
Central Missouri and Northwest Missouri placed seven on the list, while Missouri-Rolla and Missouri Southern placed five, and Southwest Baptist had two.
