No. 23 Truman (2-1-1 overall, 0-0 MIAA): The Bulldogs will have had a two-week break when they play host to Winona State (Minn.) on Saturday. Truman needed the time to regroup after opening at home in the Truman Classic on Sept. 7 with a 3-0 loss to No. 7 Nebraska-Omaha, followed by a scoreless draw the next day with No. 13 Northern Colorado.

The two-game stumble, caused the 'Dogs to drop to 23rd from sixth in the NSCAA national poll. While the NSCAA poll does not have postseason implications, all of the 'Dogs' games this year are regional contests and will factor in heavily when the NCAA Division II women's soccer committee begins regional rankings in several weeks.

Truman vs. No. 7 Nebraska-Omaha: The Bulldogs took three shots on goal with the UNO keeper making saves on all three, while the Mavericks scored in 20th, 22nd and 76th minutes and had six shots on goal. Freshman Lisa Schmalz (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central) made all three saves for Truman.

Truman vs. No. 13 Northern Colorado: The teams battled 120 minutes but ended the game in a scoreless draw. Schmalz and the UNC keeper each made five saves.

Series Records: Truman leads the series with Winona 3-1, with the Bulldogs' only loss coming on Sept. 19, 1999 in Kirksville, 1-0. Truman has won the last two meetings, 2-0 in 2000 and 1-0 last year.

Truman leads Rockhurst 6-1-1 in the all-time series. The 'Dogs won 3-0 at RU last year and have a string of four straight wins on the line. In 1997, the Lady Hawks won 2-1 in overtime and in 1996 the two teams battled to a 2-0 overtime tie.

Coaches' records: Mike Cannon enters his first decade as head coach at Truman. Last year, his team reached the NCAA Division II tournament for the second time, earning a first-round bye and the opportunity to host second-round and quarterfinal NCAA games for the first time in school history. The 2001 team also posted the most wins ever (18) and was the No. 1 team in the Central region. Cannon was later named Central region coach of the year.

His squad of year ago claimed its third-straight Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association crown and led the nation with an outstanding 0.38 goals against average. He was also named MIAA coach of the year for the third consecutive season.

Cannon is the winningest coach in Truman women's soccer history, and is ranked tied for 17th by percentage and 16th by victories among NCAA Division II active coaches with a career record of 111-48-14 (.682).

Winona (2-2-3 overall, 0- NSIAC): The Warriors are also on a two-game non-winning streak, tying St. Cloud 1-1 on Sept. 11 and losing 4-2 to North Dakota on Sept. 15.

Amanda Stache has four goals and assists for a team-high 12 points.

Elizabeth Slouka and Kathyrn Kramer have shared time in goal, but Slouka has played nearly twice as much time and has a 2-1-2 record.

No. 12 Rockhurst (3-1 overall): The Lady Hawks have two games in the Emporia State tournament this weekend, facing Northern Colorado on Saturday and Northwest Missouri on Sunday. Rockhurst suffered it first loss of the year at home on Sunday to Minnesota State University, Mankato, 1-0.
