The Truman women's soccer team had three of its members named Academic All-District today by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Junior forward Sara Murray (Eden Prairie, Minn.) was named to the first team and now advances to the All-America ballot. Second-team honors were garnered by junior forward Ellen Wright (Kirkwood, Mo.) and sophomore midfielder Lauren Cepicky (St. Louis/Lindbergh).
All three women have been instrumental in Truman claiming its fifth-straight Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association crown, and garner an almost certain bid to the NCAA Division II championships for the third-straight season as the current No. 2 seed in the region.
Murray has started 19/19 games and has 16 goals, 13 assists and 45 points. She set MIAA records for career points (111), goals (42) and assists (27) and is four points, six goals and two assists away from claiming Truman records in those categories. Murray scored her third career hat trick and second of the year vs. Missouri Southern when she racked up seven total points. She is a two-time NSCAA first-team all-Region and first-team All-MIAA pick, as well as a two-time academic all-MIAA honoree and member of MIAA commissioner's academic honor roll.
Wright is second on the team with 13 goals and nine assists. She is a two-time all-MIAA recipient. Wright is currently second in the MIAA with 0.26 game-winning goals per game (5), and is third in goals (0.68 pg), assists (0.47 pg) and points (1.84 pg).
Cepicky is tied for fifth in the league with two game-winning goals, and has three goals and two assists this year, to go along with her perfect 4.0 grade point average.
