Two More Bulldogs Earn MIAA Player of the Week Honors
Two more Bulldog athletes received MIAA athlete of the week honors this week. Volleyball player Rachael Shedd (Omaha, Neb./Westside) was named the Wilson/MIAA specialist of the week and women's soccer player Lauren Davis (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo) was named the conference goalkeeper of the week.
Shedd, a senior setter, averaged 11.94 assists and 2.29 digs as the volleyball team went 3-2 last week, including wins over NAIA No. 5 Columbia College and No. 9 West Texas A&M. Against Columbia, she had 50 assists with 12 digs, two kills and a solo block in four games. Shedd added 50 assists as the Bulldogs swept West Texas A&M at the Colorado Premier Challenge on Friday. In a 3-0 loss Saturday to another ranked foe, Metro State, she had 34 assists with 13 digs and three block assists. During the week, Shedd moved to fifth on Truman's career assists list.
Davis, a freshman, faced 18 shots in her first two collegiate starts, going 1-1 with a 1.00 GAA last week. She allowed two goals and made two saves against the new No. 1 team in the latest NSCAA Division II poll, Nebraska-Omaha, at the CMSU Classic on Saturday in a 2-0 loss. In picking up her first collegiate win the next day against Minnesota State-Mankato, Davis made five saves and faced 11 shots in Truman's 2-0 win.
These two player join cross country runner Dani Rawlings as Bulldogs who received conference player of the week awards today for last week's performances.
