Rachael Shedd and Lauren Davis Receive MIAA Player Of the Week Honors
Two Truman athletes received MIAA player of the week honors this week. Rachael Shedd was named the Wilson/MIAA Volleyball Specialist of the Week, the second time this year she has received the honor. Lauren Davis was named the MIAA Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week, the third player of the week award she has received this year.
Wilson/MIAA Volleyball Specialist of the Week: Rachael Shedd
Shedd, a 5-foot-10 senior from Omaha, Neb., averaged 13.30 assists and 2.4 digs as the No. 8 Bulldogs extended their winning streak to 11 matches with three victories last week.
She had a career-high 69 assists (17.25 apg) and added 18 digs and four aces in a 3-1 win Saturday (Oct. 4) over No. 19 Rockhurst (Mo.). She also had three blocks (one solo) and two kills for eight points.
In a 3-0 sweep of Missouri Southern Friday (Oct. 3), Shedd had 40 assists (13.33 apg) with three block assists and three kills.
During limited action in a 3-0 sweep of SBU, she led the Bulldogs with 24 assists, and logged a career-high five kills on six attempts.
For the week, Truman hit .283 as a team.
She is a graduate of Westside High School.
MIAA Women's Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week: Lauren Davis
Davis, a 5-foot-8 freshman from Springfield, Mo., notched her league-leading fifth shutout at Rockhurst (Mo.) on Sunday (Oct. 5).
She made three saves to secure a 1-0 win for the Bulldogs.
Davis, who has played all but 90 of Truman's minutes in goal this season is a graduate of Kickapoo High School.
