Bulldogs Win Three Weight Classes At Central Invitational
Sophomores Greg Nurrenbern (Fulton, Mo.) and Merrick Meyer (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) and junior transfer Dustin Teeman (St. Charles, Mo./St. Charles West-Lindenwood) all took first-place at their respective weight classes in the Central College Wrestling Invitaional on Saturday, Jan. 18, in Pellla, Iowa.
Meyer went 3-0 at 141 pounds, winning his first two matches by decision and the champinship match by a fall in 5:47.
Teeman was the winner at 149 pounds after trasferring in at the semester break. He won his first-round bout by a fall in 4:31 and took the quarterfinal match by a major decision, 16-4. Teeman was 4-0 for the day.
Nurrenbern posted a 3-0 record en route to his championship at 184 pounds, and won his first match by a fall in 1:40.
At 125 pounds, freshman Steve Cox (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) went 1-2, his only win coming by a fall in 3:51.
Sophomore Allen Stokes (Kansas City, Mo./Hickman Mills), at 133 pounds, was 2-2 for the meet and pinned his first opponent in 1:29, as well as taking a 4-0 decision in the second round consolation match.
Senior Corey Crandall (Buckner, Mo./Fort Osage), at 157 pounds, and freshman Chris Pivirotto (St. Charles, Mo./Lindbergh), at 165 pounds, both went 4-1 for the day and finished third in their weight classes.
Sophomore Tom Tajkowski (St. Peters, Mo./DeSmet) was 1-2 at 174 pounds and junior Marc Heinecke (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Force Prep) was 0-2 at at 197 pounds.
