Greg Nurrenbern Wins 184-Pounds As Bulldogs Finish 12th At Midwest Classic
Sophomore Greg Nurrenbern (Fulton, Mo.) took first-place for the Truman State University Bulldogs at 184 pounds at the Midwest Classic Wrestling Tournament on Saturday after going 3-0 and winning all three matches by decision. The Bulldogs placed 12th out of 17 teams at the meet with 47.5 points.
Sophomore Merrick Meyer (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) finished third at 141 pounds after going 4-1 for the meet. He pinned his first-round opponent in 1:33 and took a 6-1 decision in the quarterfinal match before losing a close 9-8 decision in the semifinal bout. In the consolation bracket, he pinned his first opponent in 2:48 before taking the third-place match my a major decision, 12-2.
Senior Corey Crandall (Buckner, Mo./Fort Osage) was fifth at 157 pounds with a 4-2 record and had one pin in 3:54.
At 125 pounds freshman Steve Cox (Bondurant, Iowa/Bondurant-Farrar) was 0-2, as was sophomore Allen Stokes (Kansas City, Mo./Hickman Mills) at 133 pounds, freshman Chris Pivirotto (St. Charles, Mo./Lindbergh) at 165 pounds, sophomore Tom Tajkowski (St. Peters, Mo./DeSmet) at 174 pounds, junior Marc Heinecke (Colorado Springs, Colo./Air Force Prep) at 197 pounds and sophomore Matt Sonn (St. Louis/Horton-Watkins) at heavyweight.
