Three Bulldog Wrestlers Win Individual Titles At Simpson Invitational

The Bulldogs wrestling team had a successful Saturday in Indianola, Iowa at the Simpson Invitational as Merrick Meyer, Dustin Teeman and Greg Nurrenbern won individual titles and the team finished tied for sixth out of 11 squads.

Meyer captured the 141-pound title with a pin in the first match, a major decision in the quarterfinals, a 6-0 shutout in the semifinals and a 3-2 victory over Wartburg's Dustin Hinschberger in the finals.

Dustin Teeman also won a tight title match at 149-pounds, winning 7-6 over Simpson's Clint Manny. Teeman also earned a pin in his first match, a major decision in the quarterfinals and a decision in the semifinals.

Greg Nurrenbern had two pins on the way to the 184-pound title. He also won a 10-1 major decision in the semifinals and knocked off William Penn's Joe Evano by a 9-5 decision in the finals.

Two Bulldogs placed in the 157-pound weight class as Corey Crandell took third after defeating teammate Kelly Latting, wrestling as a wildcard, by a 1-0 decision in the third-place match.
