Bulldog Wrestlers Win Two at MacMurray Invite;
Drop Close One At Lindenwood
The Truman wrestling team finished third of seven teams this past Saturday at the MacMurray College (Ill.) Invitational.
Two individuals won their weight classes as Bulldog Chris Benner (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City) went 4-0 at the meet, winning the championship match at 184 pounds by a 4-3 score. And, Truman's Erik Simms (Wentzville, Mo.) won the 197 weight class by a 5-2 score and went 3-0 at the invitational.
Brad Kieffer (Mt. Carmel, Ill.) placed second at 141 pounds, losing the championship match by a 5-2 score. He was 2-1 for the day.
At 149 pounds, Cory Crandall (Buckner, Mo./Ft. Osage) took third-place with a 3-2 score and posted a 3-1 record for the day.
Erik Todd (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) also finished third at 174 pounds, pinning his opponent in 4:23. Todd had a record of 2-1 at the meet.
Chris Brown (Kirksville, Mo.) placed fourth at 133 pounds after losing the third-place match by a 3-2 score. His record for the meet was 2-2.
Bo Rinehart (Maysville, Mo.) wrestled in the 157 pound weight class and finished with a record of 2-2.
Don Cummings (Fulton, Mo.) also competed at 184 pounds, posting a record of 1-2, and Bryan Jovick (St. Louis/CBC) went 0-2 at heavy weight.
Later Saturday evening, the Bulldogs travelled to St. Louis for a dual meet with Lindenwood College. Truman lost 25-24 to LU to put the 'Dogs' dual record at 0-3 on the season.
Winners for Truman were Brown at 133 pounds, Kieffer at 141 pounds, Crandall at 149 pounds and Simms at 197 pounds. The Bulldogs forfeited the 125-pound and 165-pound bouts, while LU forfeited at heavyweight.
