Bulldog Wrestlers Travel To Two Meets Saturday; Two Bulldogs Finish Third At Wisconsin-Parkside Open
The Bulldog wrestlers have a big day planned this Saturday. First they will travel to the MacMurray College Invitational in Jacksonville, Ill. That evening at 8 pm, the Bulldogs will be at Lindenwood College for dual meet.
The wrestling team travelled to its fourth meet of the season on last Saturday. At the University of Wisconsin-Parkside Open, two Truman individuals placed third in their weight classes.
Brad Kieffer (Mt. Carmel, Ill.), who went 4-1 at the Open, won by decision (3-2) over Matt Bronstetter who was unattached to take third-place at 141 pounds.
Truman's Erik Simms (Wentzville, Mo.) took third-place in the 197-pound bout over Wisconsin-LaCrosse's Matt Morris by a 7-3 decision. Simms posted a 4-1 record at the meet.
Erick Todd (St. Peters, Mo./Ft. Zumwalt South) finished fourth at 174 pounds after losing, 7-6, to Aaron Cohen who was unattached. Todd had a record of 4-2 for the meet.
Bulldog Chris Benner (Kansas City, Mo./North Kansas City) placed fourth at 184 pounds after he was pinned at 4:38 by Dan Ott, also unattached. Benner was 4-2 overall.
Chris Brown (Kirksville, Mo.), 4-2 for the meet, and Cory Crandall (Buckner, Mo./Ft. Osage), finished fifth at 133 pounds and 149 pounds, respectively.
Brown won 15-0 by decision over Kevin Biermeir, who was unattached, and Crandell beat Nathan Vgoretz of Wisconsin-Stevens Point by a 7-3 decision and posted a record of 4-2 at the meet.
Phillip Wilkey (Naperville, Ill.) went 2-2 at 141 pounds; Bo Rinehart (Maysville, Mo.) was 2-0 at 157; Don Cummings (Fulton, Mo.) went 0-2 at 184 pounds; and Bryan Jovick (St. Louis/CBC) posted a record of 1-2 at 285 pounds for the day.
