Latting Leads Wrestlers at Coe Invitational
The Truman wrestling team competed at the Coe College Turkey Invitational in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on Saturday.
Freshman 157-pounder Kelly Latting led Truman with a first-place finish, knocking off Charlie Bishop of Mt. St. Clare, 3-2, in the championship bout. Latting went undefeated with a 3-0 record at the meet.
A second-place finish went to Grant Strickland at 125 pounds as he defeated Nick Morphew of Lawrence University (Wis.) 6-0 and posted a record of 2-1.
Fourth-place finishes went to Philip Wilkey at 141 pounds, Corey Crandall at 165 pounds and Nate Kessen at 184 pounds. Wilkey, Crandall and Kessen posted records of 2-2 at the Coe Invitational.
Don Cummings, at 197 pounds, and Bryan Jovick, at heavyweight, also finished fourth in their respective weight classes. However, those weights competed in a round-robin format and they each went 0-3 for the day.
At 165 pounds, Bo Rinehart placed fifth with a record of 2-3.
David Reepmeyer, at 184 pounds, finished sixth with a record of 1-3.
