Results of Ed South Wrestling Championships
The Truman wrestlers competed at the Edsouth Championships in Jefferson City, Tenn., on Saturday.
The top finisher for Truman was freshman Kelly Latting who placed second at 157 pounds. Latting went 2-1 for the day and improved his record to a team-best 28-14 for the year.
Third-place finishes were garnered by Corey Crandall at 165 pounds, newcomer Wyatt Pickering at 184 pounds and freshman Nate Kessen at 197 pounds.
Crandall was 2-1 for the day and is now 20-20 for the year, the second-best record on the team. Kessen registered the most wins by a Bulldog for the day with a 3-1 mark and is 9-20 for the season.
Pickering, who joined the team a couple of weeks ago, went 2-1 for the day. He has been a running back on the Truman football team the last two seasons and had not competed in wrestling since high school.
Grant Strickland placed fourth at 125 pounds after going 2-2 at the meet. He is now 13-15 for the year.
Other Bulldogs who competed were Lewis Marshall who was 0-2 at 149 pounds, Bo Rinehart who was 0-2 at 174 pounds, Scott Smith who was 1-2 at 174 pounds, Tony Spiker who was 0-2 at 184 pounds and Don Cummings who was 1-2 at heavy weight.
