Meyer Takes First at Central College Wrestling Invite

The Truman wrestling team was one of six teams that competed at the Central College (Iowa) Invitational on Saturday.

Freshman Merrick Meyer was the top finisher for Truman, winning the 141-pound weight class by going undefeated at 3-0 for the day.

Second-place finishes were garnered by Nolyn Wagner at 149 pounds and Bo Rinehart at 165 pounds.

Finishing in fourth-place were Grant Strickland at 125 pounds, Corey Crandall at 157 pounds and Bryan Jovick at heavy weight. Jovick registered his first win since his freshman campaign, and did it in style by pinning his opponent in 1:08.

Fifth-place finishes went to Allen Stokes at 133 pounds, Gregg Nurrenbern at 174 pounds and Marc Heinecke at 197 pounds.

Nate Kessen placed sixth at 184 pounds.
