Truman Places Seventh at NCAA Midwest Regional
Meyer Qualifies for NCAA Division II Championships

The Truman State University wrestling team placed seventh out of 11 teams at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional in Aberdeen, S.D. on Sunday.

True freshman Merrick Meyer placed third at 141 pounds and qualified for the NCAA Division II Championships to be held on Mar. 8-9 in Kenosha, Wis.

Meyer posted a 3-1 record at the tournament, earning a 7-5 win over SIU-Edwardsville's Matt Tomanovich, a 4-3 win over Carson-Newman's Ben Sprunger and a pin over Central Missouri State's Drew Passley.

Fifth-place finishes were registered by two Bulldog grapplers, sophomore Grant Strickland at 125 pounds and junior Corey Crandall at 157 pounds. Freshman Gregg Nurrenbern tallied a sixth-place finish.
