Nurrenbern Takes Second at Wisconsin-Parkside Open Wrestling Championships

The top finisher for the Bulldog wrestling team at last weekend's University of Wisconsin-Parkside Wrestling championships was freshman 174-pounder Gregg Nurrenbern (Fulton, Mo.) who placed second in the 174-pound weight class. Nurrenbern went 2-1 en route to his runner-up finish.

Junior Corey Crandall (Buckner, Mo./Fort Osage), at 157 pounds, and 149-pounder Kelley Latting (St. Anne, Ill./Bishop McNamara), finished third at their respective weight classes. Crandall posted a 5-1 record for the meet, while Latting was 4-1.

Fourth-place finishes were earned by sophomore Grant Strickland (Wagoner, Okla.) at 125 pounds and freshman Merrick Meyer (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) at 141 pounds. Strickland had a 3-2 record for the open and Meyer was 4-2.

Other Truman competitors as the meet included freshman Allen Stokes (Kansas City, Mo./Hickman Mills) at 125 pounds with a 1-2 record, junior Bo Rinehart (Maysville, Mo.) at 165 pounds with a 2-2 mark, freshman Tom Tajkowski (st. Peters, Mo./DeSmet) with a 1-2 record at 174 pounds, sophomore Nate Kessen (Rochelle, Ill.) at 184 pounds with a 1-2 record, freshman Matt Sonn (St. Louis/Horton-Watkins) at 197 pounds with an 0-2 mark, sophomore Marc Heinecke (Colorado Springs, Colo./AF Prep) at 197 pounds with an 0-1 record and junior Bryan Jovick (St. Louis/CBC) at heavy weight who was 0-1.
