Truman Wrestlers Fall to Central College in Season Opener
The Bulldog wrestling team lost its season opener to Central College (Iowa) 29-10 on Wednesday night. It was the first win of the year for the Dutch, who improved to 1-9.
Sophomore Merrick Meyer (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) at 141 pounds, redshirt freshman Chris Pivirotto (St. Charles, Mo./Lindbergh) at 165 pounds and sophomore Gregg Nurrenberg (Fulton, Mo.) at 184 pounds registered Truman's three wins for the night, all by decision.
Meyer was recently ranked eighth at 141 pounds in the National Wrestling Coaches Association regional rankings. Meyer qualified for the 2002 NCAA Division II championships as a freshman.
Truman will be the site of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional championships on March 2, 2003.
