Bulldogs Finish Second at MacMurray Invitational
Truman's wrestling team finished second last weekend at the MacMurray Invitational. The Bulldogs scored 88.5 points, just behind Missouri Baptist College who won the event with 90.5 points.
The Bulldogs had four champions on the day, starting with Allen Stokes at 133 pounds, 141-pounder Merrick Meyer, Corey Crandall in the 187-pound class and at 184 pounds was Gregg Nurrenbern.
Meyer, currently ranked eighth in the region in his class, was also named the MacMurray Invitational MVP as selected by the officials and coaches.
Placing second for Truman at 157 pounds was Kelley Latting, while Grant Strickland at 125 pounds and Chris Pivirotto at 165 were fifth.
Matt Sonn was 2-2 in the heavyweight class. Steve Cox (125), Phil Esposito (125) and Tom Tajkowski (174) each went 0-2 at the Invitational.
The Bulldogs are off until Jan. 3-4 when they resume action at the Midwest Classic in Indianapolis.
Truman is 0-1 in duals so far this season after losing the season-opener to Central College (Iowa) 20-10 on Dec. 11.
