Truman Wrestling Team Falls To Simpson
No. 5 Simpson defeated Truman 36-15 in Saturday afternoon wrestling action in Indianola. The Bulldogs opened the dual with a 6-0 victory when Steve Cox pinned Justin Allen in 1:07 at 125 pounds. Quent Christensen tied the dual at six when he pinned Phil Esposito at the 2:24 mark. Truman defaulted at 141 and 149 pounds, giving the Storm an 18-6 lead.
The Bulldogs' Corey Crandall pinned Chase Weller in just 51 seconds to make it 18-12. Truman cut the lead to three when Kelly Latting defeated Josh Stirling 6-1 at 165 pounds.
Jason Mitchell won by a 6-3 decision over Chris Pivirotto. Josh Stirling made it 24-15 when he posted an 8-6 victory over Tom Tajkowski (184). Simpson 197-pounder Bart George and Storm heavyweight Brett Christensen, who entered the dual tied for the Division III lead in wins with 31, each posted a pin in their respective weight classes. George stuck Mark Heinecke at the 2:06 mark while Christensen posted his 14th pin of the year over Matt Sonn (at the 3:36 mark).
Simpson concludes the regular season with a 19-8 dual record. Truman State falls to 1-7.
