Willrett picked up the loose ball just inside the 18-yard line and found the far left post for the game winner. The goal was unassisted.
UNO scored first in the contest on a crossing pass from Ali Portell to Christen Boeckel that found the top right corner of the goal. Truman responded in the second half with a goal by Robyn Mortenson (Lake Villa, Ill./Antioch) at the top of the 18-yard box. The ball came rebounded out to Mortenson off a free kick and she was able to tie the game at one apiece.
Following that play, Truman had three chances off corner kicks to take the lead, the first was a header that just missed the top of the net from Anna Sonderman (Manchester, Mo./Nerinx Hall), the next two were saved by Maverick keeper Amy Price off the head of Melissa Snodgrass (Rolla, Mo./Rolla).
Price and Truman keeper Lauren Davis (Springfield, Mo./Kickapoo) each made four saves in the game.
Truman ends the season by setting team records for most victories in the season with 19 and fewest losses with one. They claimed their sixth-straight MIAA title and advanced to the NCAA tournament for the fourth-straight time. Senior Sara Murray (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) leaves the Bulldogs as the team's all-time leading scorer. Murray has 59 goals and 42 assists for 160 points. The four other seniors that played a huge role in the team's success the last four years were Sonderman, Lisa Manns (Overland Park, Kan./St. Thomas Aquinas), Stephanie Cepicky (St. Louis, Mo./Lindbergh) and Ellen Wright (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood).
