Nov. 4, 2006- Jacquie Faust had the best race of her life on Saturday in Warrensburg, Mo. and took home first-place honors at the NCAA South Central Regional.

Faust finished the 6,000m race in a time of 22:00, just edging out Rachel Ingram of Southwestern Oklahoma by two seconds. The race was very exciting down the stretch, with the first five runners finishing within 11 seconds of each other.

Faust is just the second Bulldog in school history to win a regional cross country title. The other title came from Kerry Knepper, who won the 1987 regional crown.

With the victory, Faust earns a trip to the NCAA Division II championship race. That meet will take place on Nov. 18 in Pensacola, Fla. as part of the NCAA Division II Fall Sports Festival.

Unfortunately, Truman could not take advantage of Faust’s win to help their team place. The Bulldogs had just three runners at the meet and did not have a team score.

The other runners were sophomore Danna Kelly and Alana Walker. Kelly finished in 11th-place with a time of 22:39. She improved on her 20th-place showing during her freshman season, and earned all-region accolades. In her first regional meet, Walker was 72nd overall with a mark of 24:33.
