April 26, 2007 -  The Truman volleyball team has added two more players to their 2007 signing class.  Head Coach Jason Skoch has announced that Ashley Petack, a setter from Omaha, Neb. and Jessica Zimmerman, an outside hitter from Coal Valley, Ill. will be playing for the Bulldogs next season.

5-7 Setter

Omaha, Neb. (Bellevue West)

 

Petak has been apart of four Nebraska Class A state championships at Bellevue West High School … was also a member of the 2003 Junior Olympic National title team … holds the school record for assists with 3,975 and single-season assists record with 1,333 in 2004 … also holds single-game assist mark with 68 in 2005 and service aces with 10 in 2004 … was a Class A first team all-state selection in 2006 and a second-team choice in 2005 … an overall second team all-state pick in 2006, third team in 2005 and honorable mention all-state in 2003 and 2004 … a three-time Class A all-tournament selection as well as all-metro and all-division honors … played doubles and earned all-academic award in 2005 as a member of the tennis team.

 

Coach Skoch on Petak: “Ashley is a great find this late in recruiting.  She is a wonderful fit for our program and has great setter instincts that will bode well with our hitters.  She is used to playing at the highest levels and she is use to winning in this competitive environment.  Ashley is a floor general and we expect her to compete for a starting position immediately.”

 

Jessica Zimmerman

5-10 Outside Hitter

Coal Valley, Ill. (Moline)

 

Zimmerman has been a part of three conference and three regional championships, advancing past the sectional round in 2005 … a two-time all-metro team selection and an all-conference pick following her senior year … was named all-metro player of the year and named a Moline Dispatch Argus Pacesetter … averaged 10 kills per game, 333 kills a season and averaged 75 service aces per season.

 

Coach Skoch on Zimmerman: “Jessica brings a great work ethic and dedication to our program.  I have watched her development over the past year and she has made great strides.  She brings solid ball control and a hammer at the outside hitter position.  Her competitive spirit is what this team needs.”

 

Petak and Zimmerman join Casey Bruno and Courtney Larson, who signed to play for the Bulldogs in November.
