Oct. 20, 2008 – Senior volleyball right-side hitter Melissa Keck and junior women’s soccer midfielder Katie Reuck were named MIAA Players of the Week for their respective sports on Monday by the conference office. It’s the first time each player has received the award in 2008.

Keck, a 6-foot-0 senior from Belleville, Ill., hit ..394 (18 kills, 5 errors, 33 attempts) and averaged 3.21 points per set as the No. 12 Bulldogs posted a pair of road wins last week to extend their win streak to eight matches.

In a sweep at Northwest Missouri State Friday (Oct. 17), she hit .615 (8-0-13) and scored 10 points (8 kills, 1 block solo, 2 block assists) with two digs.

Keck scored 12.5 points (10 kills, 1 block solo, 3 block assists) with two digs and an assist in a 3-1 win at Missouri Western the next day. She picked up the 1,000th kill of her career against the Griffons, finishing the match with 1,003.

Keck was a two-time recipient of the hitter of the week award in 2007 and was an AVCA all-American third-team selection last season.

Reuck (pronounced RU-eck), a 5-foot-3 junior from Jacksonville, Ill., scored two goals -- including the go-ahead marker -- as the No. 25 Bulldog women’s soccer team earned a 3-2 win at Northwest Missouri State Thursday (Oct. 16).

She scored an unassisted goal in the 77th minute to break a 2-2 tie, less than 10 minutes after Riley Mahn knotted the game. It was her seventh goal of the season, and fourth game-winning score of 2008.

Reuck's first tally of the match came in the 40th minute -- a shot to the top left corner -- which allowed the Bulldogs to go to the halftime break tied at 1-1.

She received all-MIAA first-team honors in 2007 and was also the offensive player of the week nearly one year ago on Oct. 22, 2007.
