Oct. 27, 2008 – Junior women’s soccer forward Jessica Wiegert was named the MIAA Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer on Monday by the conference office. The selection marked the second consecutive week that a Truman player received the award.

Wiegert (pronounced WIG-ert), a 5-foot-11 junior from West Des Moines, Iowa, logged a natural hat trick to send the Bulldogs past Nebraska-Omaha, 4-1, Monday (Oct. 20).

She scored Truman's first three goals -- the first in the fifth minute, and the next two at the 48th and 58th minutes of the match to give the Bulldogs a 3-0 lead.

It was the fourth multi-goal match of Wiegert's career and her first three-goal game. She also moved into eighth place on Truman's career goals (24) and points (61) lists.

Wiegert received all-MIAA second-team honors in 2007 and was a second-team all-region selection in 2006. She is the eighth Truman student-athlete to receive Player of the Week accolades in the 2008-09 academic year and is the second straight women’s soccer player to garner the award following junior Katie Reuck’s award last Monday.

Wiegert is a graduate of Valley High School.
