Senior Georgia Mueller added 16 points and 13 rebounds to help the Bulldogs (1-3) hold on in its second overtime contest already this season. After Rockhurst (2-1) tied the game with eight seconds remaining in regulation and took an early lead in overtime, Truman clamped down on defense by holding RU to just a last second, inconsequential three-pointer in the extra session. Truman, meanwhile, went five-of-six from the charity stripe in overtime to seal head coach Michael Smith’s first win as a Bulldog.
Joya and Mueller were joined in double-figures by sophomore Malorie Kiecker (12) and freshman Breanna Daniels (11), as Truman shot 44% for the game. Rockhurst drained seven more three-pointers, but Truman made up the difference at the free throw line – hitting 26-of-33 free throws to just Rockhurst’s seven-of-15 mark.
Truman will take a week off before hitting the court again on Saturday, Nov. 29 against William Woods (
